1. Traffic Rules
To use LUUP safely and comfortably, we will introduce the rules for riding and dangerous behaviors.
Please observe traffic rules while using LUUP.
Please also check violations and penalties of the Road Traffic Act along with the following items.
・Driving Route
In principle, please ride on the road.
In addition to the road, you can also ride on the following bicycle paths.
- Bicycle-only lanes (bike lanes)
- Bicycle paths (cycling roads)
Riding on sidewalks or riding against traffic on the road will result in violations of the Road Traffic Act.
Please do not do it under any circumstances. Please be careful.
・Turning Right
Always make a two-stage turn at intersections.
If you are pushing the e-scooter, you will be considered a pedestrian, so it's also recommended to walk across pedestrian crossings at large intersections while pushing the e-scooter.
・Riding on One-Way Streets
You can ride on one-way streets where bicycles are exempt from regulations.
Therefore, one-way streets that have a sign saying "except bicycles" can be used in both directions.
2. Safe Riding Methods
Preparing for the Ride
・Vehicle Check
As per our terms of use, we ask users to check the vehicle before riding.
Please specifically check the following points.
- Functioning of brakes
- Any issues with handle operation
- Proper installation of smartphone holder
- Cuts, significant wear, or proper air pressure of front and rear tires
- Functioning of the horn (bell)
- Operation of front lights
- Presence of turn signals
- Presence of vehicle registration plate (number plate)
- Presence of number lights
- Operation of brake lights
- Display functionalities
- Remaining battery percentage displayed in LUUP app etc.
- Remaining battery on the smartphone with LUUP app installed by the registered user
- Other issues
・Check Battery Level
After unlocking, check the panel to ensure there is sufficient battery remaining.
・Raise Side Stand
Make sure to raise the side stand.
Be careful if you are wearing open shoes, such as sandals, as they can get caught on the side stand and cause injury.
・Using the Throttle
Use the throttle gently.
Be careful not to accidentally press the throttle while pushing it.
For more details, please refer to the article on e-scooter operation.
During the Ride
・Check Surroundings
At the start of the ride, ensure there are no obstacles ahead.
Also, be aware of the movements of other vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians, especially at intersections or when visibility is poor.
If there are many pedestrians, even on roads where riding is allowed, get off the e-scooter and push it.
・Applying Brakes
When applying brakes, grab them slowly with both hands instead of abruptly.
・Steering the Handle
When turning, steer the handle slowly. Abrupt steering can cause skidding and lead to accidents like falling or tipping over, so please be careful.
・Riding on Bumpy Roads
Even small bumps may not be overcome, and hitting bumps can cause significant shock to the vehicle, which is very dangerous. When crossing bumps, be sure to check the surroundings for safety, then get off and lift the vehicle over the bump.
3. Dangerous Driving and Prohibited Acts
For safe usage of LUUP, please refrain from the following actions.
- Riding on sidewalks in unauthorized ways
- Riding against traffic on the road

When riding, please wear clothes that allow for easy movement.

If you wear clothing that extends to the ground, please avoid riding.
Please enjoy safely and comfortably by following the rules.
